Special Needs Dad 365

Listen to Others
I went to the post office today to drop off some packages and as usual, I checked our Livy’s Hope PO Box. Like most days, there was nothing in it which is fine with me. I’m not one who gets upset about that type of thing. There are much more important areas of life with which I am concerned. It did, however, get me to thinking.

Part of this journey in the special needs world is sharing one’s perspective. That’s the major reason I have been writing every day. But it’s also about listening to what others have been through. The gift of time to be there when others need a shoulder to lean on or even just to vent is very important. It may be your spouse, your child, a friend, or even a stranger. Never take for granted or diminish how much it means to another to simply let them tell you how they are feeling.

So I have a favor to ask. Think of one word you turn to when you get discouraged or that has special meaning. Write it on the back of a postcard that represents your state or country, or wherever you live, and why the word is important. Feel free to write anything else as well. Then mail it to:

Livy’s Hope

We’ll call our little project, “Finding Hope.” I would love to hang them up in my office and also comment about some of them. I have the perspective of my family and Livy's challenges but I would really like to read yours as well.
