These days, the process is very different. When I was in high school, we went to the school that was in town. We never thought about going anywhere else. It's so competitive now and I often think we forget to let kids just be kids.
What this process also does is remind us of just how different Hailey and Livy's lives are and will be. Livy will be in the same school until she is 23 and continue to live at home. Hailey will go from high school to college, to a job and out on her own as Livy is graduating. Their paths will be very different. Our dreams for each are very different. Accepting that has always been very difficult.
We can't help but wonder what life would be like had Livy not been born with health issues. Would they be going to the same schools? Would they hang out with the same friends? Would they have the same interests? We will never have the answers to these and many other questions.
At some point, these questions may change. But I keep waiting and wondering, when...
