We are thrilled to announce that all 50 states registered to make a stand against epilepsy for Lemonade for Livy! Individuals and families came together to create awareness and to help the Epilepsy Foundation fund research that will lead to new treatments. It amazes us what can be done when we all work toward a common goal. Lemonade for Livy 2016 is bigger than ever before and will continue to play a more important role in supporting the community and improving the lives of those living with epilepsy.
If you have not yet registered for Lemonade for Livy, you can still do so at epilepsy.com/lemonadeforlivy and join us in spreading hope across the United States and around the world.
Shopko Stores' participation in Lemonade for Livy was amazing! For those of you who missed the announcement last month, Shopko is a $3 billion retail company with more than 370 stores throughout the Midwest and western US. From July 29th - August 5th, they collected donations for the campaign at the register in all of their stores. There were also lemonade stands in 75 of their stores on July 30th. We couldn't be more thankful for Shopko's willingness to partner with the Epilepsy Foundation and to help expand the campaign. Their involvement will allow local Epilepsy Foundations to reach more individuals and families in communities around the country as well as enable the Foundation to fund additional research. We are incredibly grateful for their support!
Hailey presented "Don't Give Up. Give Back." at our local library in July. She had a wonderful time interacting with the kids and teaching them why it is important to help people and to give back. Kids love to do things for others and sometimes it just takes a few suggestions to get them started. The kids were also very interested in Livy. They asked a lot of great questions and were so open to learning about her. Teaching kids about disabilities and and other health issues at an early age creates more awareness and acceptance that they take with them as they grow.
THEN & NOW - These are photos of the originators of Lemonade for Livy. The one on the left was taken six years ago and the one on the right was taken in July. Megan and Madison took it upon themselves to setup a lemonade stand in honor of Livy. Lemonade for Livy started as a way to raise funding for Livy's therapy sessions. Little did they know that their stand would turn into a national campaign to support people across the country! Thank you to our awesome neighbors and friends for "Making A Stand" and for inspiring us and so many others.
