What Is Your Message?

2012 is now in the past. Looking back over the year, can you say that you were truly the person you wanted to be? Instead of making resolutions each year to stop doing something, I now make goals so I am motivated to achieve more. I have goals for various parts of my life including family, career, recreation and personal growth. Livy’s Hope is a big portion of personal growth.

Over the last year, we have evaluated what we would like Livy’s Hope to be and how we would like it to contribute to others. Livy’s Hope started as a source where we documented Livy’s story and the impact she has made on our family during both the good and bad times, from holidays to hospital stays. We truly appreciate all of you who have followed our journey and who have given us encouragement and financial support.

In 2013, Livy’s Hope will continue to be a place where we will chronicle Livy’s life adventures. A portion of the profits from the sale of items on Livy’s Hope will continue to go toward Livy’s care. She is the inspiration and hope that has made us who we are and she challenges us all to be better people. Amazing how she does this and still has not said her first word.

As you have seen lately, our new mission is to inspire hope in the lives of sick and disabled children and their families by providing community education, advocacy and supportive programs. We recently put our first program in place. As you will see in the video titled "Making A Difference", we delivered a set of bracelets to All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL to be distributed to girls who are staying there. It is a small gesture but we hope it will bring a smile to those in need of some happiness. Our hope is to deliver bracelets to additional hospitals as well. We couldn’t do this without the support we continue to receive.

So as we begin 2013, I find that many of my personal growth goals are intertwined with the goals we have for Livy’s Hope…do something meaningful, help others, make a difference. I wrote the poem below to pose the question to us all. Are we the people we want to be? Can we honestly look at ourselves in the mirror each day and confidently say, “I am making this world a better place to live in?” The New Year holds so much promise. Don’t let life get in the way of what you want your message to be.

What Is Your Message?

Look in the mirror every day,
Your reflection does it say,
What have I done, what can I do?
Am I proud of my life do I follow through?
We have a choice to make it seems,
To chase our hearts and live our dreams.
Or stay confined tangled in fear,
Waiting and wishing for life to appear.

What is your message?
Do you have a plan?
To change the world,
To take a stand?
Look inside, see where you've been,
Passion for action lies within.
What is your message?
Do you have a plan?
To change the world,
To take a stand?
A crossroad of self we all must face,
So Choose the path of strength and grace.

Begin your journey, spread the news,
Give everything and never lose.
Unleash your fire and set ablaze,
Start out new, a different phase.
Get inspired, ignite your spark,
Rise above and make your mark.
Believe you can and you will see,
How amazing it feels to be free.

What is your message?
Do you have a plan,
To change the world,
To take a stand?
The time is now before you fall,
Live your life, once and for all.
What is your message?
Do you have a plan,
To change the world,
To take a stand?
Touch one life forever know,
A weary heart set aglow.

Some will try to tear you down,
Swallow hard and then rebound.
Stand up straight and show your will,
Deep in their souls you must instill.
A message real and sure to heed,
Never give in, you will succeed.

What is your message?
Do you have a plan,
To change the world,
To take a stand?
When you are gone and all look back,
It's what you gave, not what you lack.
What is your message?
Do you have a plan,
To change the world,
To take a stand?
Find hope alive stay true and pure,
Whatever you face, you will endure.

What an amazing family! Very beautiful and thought-provoking poem, Jon! Hailey, you are such a treasure! What a gift you are to the world, sweetheart. You, like your beautiful sister, Livy, inspire us all in your own unique way. How many 8 year olds have the desire and the courage to step up and make a difference in other people's lives? You should be very, very proud of yourself! I can only imagine how proud of you Livy must be. Heaven's Angels are all looking down upon you with such pride and joy for the good you are doing!

Your family is so beautiful Jon, Allison, Hailey and of course Livy.
You give your beautiful daughters the love and confidence to keep on keeping on!
I`m sure that everyday is a unique challenge for you all.
When I pray daily, I ask the Lord to keep giving me the strength, hope and peace
that will get me through the day.
By doing this I am learning that He just wants us to encourage one another, to help people when they are down and out, to give people just a smile that can make their day an awesome day.
We can all make a difference by doing just one small act of kindness each day...don`t think about it, just do it!

Hi, girls!

The video is grand...wish Hailey could have delivered the bracelets personally to each child, though. She is a treasure. The poem, too...thanks! If I can do something I haven't thought of...let me know. hugs,
